A magnificent natural wonder on our road trip through Germany
Our journey began in our hometown of Berlin. From there, we traveled to the Baltic Sea, the North Sea, Hamburg, and then on to Cologne. One of our stops, and one of the most beautiful, was the Externsteine in North Rhine-Westphalia. This natural wonder can only be truly appreciated when you see it for yourself. A chain of enormous rocks, like something out of a fairy tale, rises from the ground, surrounded by a mysterious lake, a forest, and a small park with wildflowers. It is a truly magical place.
These rocks are definitely worth a visit. You can stroll around them through the park, perhaps taking a walk through the woods, or you can book a tour to climb them and enjoy the view from the top. They're especially great for photography, as they provide a breathtaking backdrop.
And the best part: visiting is free or very inexpensive. If you arrive on foot or by bicycle, you don't have to pay anything. Only if you have a car does parking cost two euros. And that's really nothing compared to this view.
